- Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): Sexual violence has emerged as a global issue that demands the attention of every country. As this crime can occure anywhere and to everyone, women are disproportionately affected. To conquer issue related to sexual violece, a program needed to solve this problem. UN Women, an international organizations that on gender equality and women’s empowerment launched Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces Global Initiative to protect and make a safe public spaces for all women to carry out their activities without any fear of being a victim of sexual violence. Canada is one of the country that adopted this program. This is parallel with Canada’s situation as a country with the highest rate of sexual violence in North America. However, the works made by UN Women inssufficiently significant alongside with the increase of sexual violence cases. The increases of sexual violence cases is a sign of awareness among Canadian to report any form of sexual violence they experienced, as the previous problem was the low reporting rate due to people feeling threatened to report to the police.
