  • Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): Female Genital Mutilation is a common practice in certain regions of Africa and Asia. This often times performed by women on other women and young girls. Initially the procedure wastermed female circumcision but there were outcries from advocates that argued this termed minimized the torture of the event and turn in to Female Genital Mutilation to gaining global awarness by World Health Organization (WHO). Although, so many program to eliminate and eradicate, this practice is increasingly massive in African countries and One of the countries with the highest prevalence rate is Somalia. The theoretical framework is the patriarchy concept and cultural. The type of research uses descriptive research and secondary data and technique of data selection uses a literature review wich is based on books, journal, and sites on the Internet. The result show that the influence factors of Female Genital Mutilation practice in Africa, particularly on Somalia, comprise of cultural factor and patriarchy.
