- Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): The Blok Mahakam has been managed by PT.Total E&P Indonesie for 50 years, and the contract expires in 2017, so that Kaltim Government and Pertamina are trying to take over. The purpose of this study is to describe the efforts to manage Blok Mahakam by Kaltim Government with Pertamina after Cooperative Contract of Total Company. This study used descriptive research method. Energy Security and Multinational Corporation concept as conceptual framework are used to answer the reseach question. This research used the secondary data. The results showed that the efforts of the Kaltim Government with Pertamina has succeeded in taking over the rights of the Blok Mahakam from PT. Total E & P Indonesie. Efforts that have been done are the Governor of East Kalimantan invites local stakeholders to fight the rights of oil and gas fields Blok Mahakam, Filing for KKS Amount not renewed, Coordinate with PT. Migas Mandiri Pratama (MMP), Kaltim Local Company, to prepare the blueprint in the management plan, Facilitate the permit related to workmanship of Mahakam area from Total E & P Indonesie to Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM). While Pertamina’s business has submitted a letter to the Indonesian government. In November 2014, it has found the oil fund of Blok Mahakam, Pertamina has also sent to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources with the intention that Pertamina is ready to manage the Blok Mahakam, Pertamina has submitted a proposal the management of the Blok Mahakam to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in February 2015, Pertamina has made preparations, namely the acceleration of drilling in 15 wells until the end of 2017 and the reservoir thickening.
