• Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): This study aims to determine the efforts of the Indonesian government in securitizing the threat of extinction of the Mahakam Dolphin species. The type of research is descriptive qualitative. The focus of this research uses securitization theory, namely four non-traditional security indicators, namely Referent Objects (objects that are threatened or protected), Securitizing Actors (actors involved in securitization efforts), Speech Act (Actors who will do issue framing), Audience (targets of actors to determine the success of a securitization) and factors that support the extinction of Mahakam dolphins. With the data analysis model used, namely the Miles and Huberman model. Based on the results of the research, it can be seen that non-traditional security is a security that will threaten many sectors, including environmental security which if it continues to occur will cause the killing of a species and if left unchecked will damage the ecosystem and the extinction of other animals or fauna that that will threaten human security. The Mahakam dolphin extinction issue itself, which departed from a non-security issue, became a security issue because of this. So, there needs to be action from the actors to be able to prevent these threats in the future.
