  • Judul artikel eJournal: Kepentingan Cina dalam Mendukung Kepemimpinan Rezim Taliban di Afghanistan Tahun 2021-2023
  • Pengarang (nama mhs): Friska Anatasya
  • Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): The Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan after more than 20 years. Previously the Taliban had controlled Afghanistan in 1996 which was finally overthrown by the US Invasion in 2001. The success of the Taliban this time received support from China. China declared its recognition of the Taliban as the new regime in Afghanisian and provided financial assistance. China’s atitude is a question mark because many counstries have not clearly acknowledged their recognition to the Taliban regime. Therefore, The results of this research indicate that China’s interest in supporting the leadership of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan 2021-2023 is influenced by three national interests which are in accordance with Donald E. Nuechterlein’s concept of interests, namely; the first one is defense interests, where China has an interest in controlling the activities of the Uighur militant movement which is geographically and ideologically close to the Taliban so that supporting and building communication with the Taliban as a new government in Afghanistan is deemed necessary as a hope that the Taliban will be able to prevent ETIM infiltration into Xinjiang, the second one is economic interests, China wants to maintain its strategic connectivity with the Taliban as the new leader of Afghanistan in order to maintain protection of investment security and economic projects built by China in Afghanistan, the third one is world order interest, China’s desire to strengthen its position in the world order is through the Belt and Road Initiative, Afghanistan which is a parts of the BRI can act as an important link in reaching key markets across Europe, Asia and beyond so China wants to push Afghanistan to take a position as a central player in Central and South Asia.
