  • Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): Food Loss and Waste (FLW) is a global issue because it is one of the problems in the era of globalization. The FLW issue is a problem that continues to grow along with the increase in human population in the world and is strengthened by the influence of globalization. In the 2011 FAO report, developing countries experienced greater levels of food waste compared to developed countries. This is due to low food processing technology and infrastructure, low public awareness about food management, and limited adequate resources. The FLW phenomenon that occurs also has a negative impact on the earth, including an increase in CO2 due to an increase in the volume of waste, waste of world air in the farming process, wastage of millions of gallons of petroleum during the farming process and food distribution and environmental pollution due to organic substances in food waste that cannot be processed. FLW contributes around 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, with a total of 1.3 billion tonnes of food waste annually. One non-governmental organization that operates in the social sector and aims to reduce FLW is Foodbank Indonesia (FOI). FOI is a non-profit social organization whose mission is to hunger, especially in poor communities and improve children’s nutrition. FOI is in line with the 2nd Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), namely zero hunger. FOI focuses on managing excess food supplies so that they are not wasted by carrying out quality control, storing and managing and distributing them to people who need them, especially children and the elderly. This organization plays a significant role in the FLW issue that occurs in Indonesia which is carried out with program synergy as a form of commitment to the SDGs to be free from hunger.
