- Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): The Gambian elections in 2016 raised quite a complicated problem. This is because the incumbent who lost the election was not willing to resign from his position, causing conflict. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of ECOWAS as an international organization in electoral disputes that occur in its member countries. To achieve the research objectives, the type of research that the writer uses is descriptive research. The type of data used is secondary data. The data technique used by the writer is library research technique. In this study the authors used the concept of international organizations to answer the role of ECOWAS. In this dispute, ECOWAS acted as a Mediator, Initiator, Facilitator and Determinator. The results showed that the roles shown by ECOWAS were successful in forcing incumbents to hand over power to the 2016 election winners.
