- Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): The ultimate goals of this thesis is to determine the strategy by the Fukutake Foundation to improve the image of the Japanese seto island. The type f this research that seeks to explain the strategy of the Fukutake Foundation in improving the image of the seto island through the setouchi triennale. Later on, the data that presented in this research categorized as secondary data that obtained through literature reviews and various literatures such as books, journals, magazines, and the internet. Furthermore, the authors use national branding and non government organization (NGO) concepts to complete the entire chapter. The results of this research using the theory of nation branding indicate that the strategies used by the Fukutake Foundation to increasing the image of the Japanese seto islands through the Setouchi Triennale, there are three types of strategies; strategies for strengthening aspects of tourism, strengthening in aspects of society, and strengthening in aspect of culture and cultural heritage.
