- Abstrak (max. 1600 huruf atau 250 kata): This research examines the national interests of Papua New Guinea in the APEC Summit 2018. A large budget is inversely proportional to the weak economic situation in 2018 and budget cuts which resulted in poor public services then raises the question why did Papua New Guinea decide to host the APEC summit 2018. The purpose of this research is to explain what are the interests of Papua New Guinea to host APEC Summit 2018. This research uses qualitative research method with explanative technique. The theory used in this research is decision making with the rational actor model by Graham T Allison. The results of this study indicate that the reasons for Papua New Guinea to decide to remain the host of the APEC Summit are based on economic and political interests by considering the potential advantages and disadvantages of holding this event which the potential economic benefits are considered to be greater than the costs of organizing the event.
