AIFDR was actively engaged in Indonesia for 5 years since 2008 until its termination in 2013. AIFDR was co-led by the BNPB and the AusAID and worked closely with various institutions and communities.AIFDR implemented all of its programswhich were systematically aimed at target groups in communities, government institutions and international organizations. As a form of strategy, AIFDR worked through four work streams: Training and Outreach which increased communities and national and international institutions’ knowledge, capacity, and ability in coping with disaster; Risk and Vulnerability increased community preparedness and resilience against natural disaster; Partnerships with community organizations and national and international institutions to improve the community’s disaster management capacity; and Research and Innovation (AIFDR Grants) to encourage the development of technology and tools needed to manage disasters further.
