To solve this problem, Australia decided to buy the diesel-powered submarines from France which are expected to offset Australia&#8217;s strength in the Indo Pacific region. After reached a contract agreement with France, in September 2021 Australia canceled the diesel submarine deal unilaterally because Australia considered that these submarines did not fulfill its country&#8217;s national interests. The purpose of this research is to find out why Australia canceled the diesel submarines contract from France. This research is a type of qualitative research using explanatory research methods, data accumulate techniques using library research where the data source is a secondary data source because it is obtained through books, journals and also the internet. In addition, this research uses decision-making theory which is used to identify existing problems to reach the decision-making stage.
