This bill establishes those who deny the events during the Ottoman Empire as genocide is considered a crime could be fined almost 45 thousand euros and a prison sentence of up to one year. Turkish government refused accused of genocide, because it is the same as accusing Turkey as a criminal state. the reason the government of President Sarkozy raised the issue of Armenian genocide is to garner votes of Armenian ethnic minority has a strong influence in France to choose Sarkozy in order to became a President for the second time.
